I was feeling Victorian today... Top hats and ties and parasols... WHAT'S WRONG WITH ME?!! It's not how my wife and I met. But the feelings are the same.

Poem Artwork

This shot was taken of my girlfriend (Wife now)  and I near Snoqualamie Falls in 1981 while we were dating in high school.

A thought occured to me just then...
as I wandered through the glade and glen...
I wonder how? I wonder when?

Whilst passing by the shaded fern...
Surprised am I as thoughts didst turn...
My life half full... yet still I yearn?

As I ambled along fellow passersby...
hand in hand and eye to eye...
an inner glow I seemed to scry.

So curious when my time twill be...
No longer "I"... but "You" with "me".
and others, "he" and "she", twill see.

So many times this path I trod...
on sunny days, my feet unshod
My thoughts on "Me"... on "Thee"... on God...

And came the times when rain didst fall.
Just like today, touching one and all...
The nearest tree, my parasol.

Taking respite from my roam...
I dwell on hearth. I dwell on home...
Against this tree... above the loam.

As droplets fell to bathe the grass...
Whilse waiting for the tears to pass...
the river looked like dimpled glass.

Prayest I to God above...
Please bring me peace. Please bring me love.
Turn one to two. Put hand in glove.

and ere could I finish my request...
an interruption at Thy behest...
a damsel fair, from rain to rest.

Thy ringlets dripped with water pure.
her eyes on mine, an instant cure.
I tipped my hat, suddenly so sure...

"Well... Hello... Miss...?"
