When he talks of her
his voice drops to a whisper
for he is no longer present
but adrift within memories
of love and passion.
When he talks of her
broken phrases escape his lips
yet they are lyrical and reverent
his adoration overwhelming
his voiced memories, a lover's aching song.
During these times
he closes his eyes, then softly sighs
as in visions she is mystically reborn
and they are blissfully united.
They live again in an enchanted land
when ... he talks ... of her!
Such powerful observation delicately expressed by a similarly watchful and loving heart! Such tenderness and compassion - yet a bittersweetness, too, which speaks of several relationships of intimacy that these two people could possibly have: unrequited lover with the object of her affection; a friend with a bereaved lover; daughter with father... each and every situation deeply moving and piquant in itself. As has indeed been said, wouldn't we all LONG for someone to be able to express their feelings for US in such tangible ways. You have portrayed something that is quite untouchable here, as well as immortal. Melting, Gwen, thank you. Kate xx
