Toll of the bell, as evening fell,
calling the dead from bitter unrest.
Chained to the deep, these ghosts without sleep,
remnants of life, the pit’s sunken guest.
Home of the dead that all mortals dread,
knowing the flesh will soon lie decayed.
Coffins of night not meant for the light,
darkness and rot–the reason they’re made.
Deeper than death, this life without breath,
permanent grave, no hope for parole.
Portal to Hell, this casketed shell,
waiting on Satan’s call for the soul.

Wow Mike, This poem has so many meanings in here. Beautiful! Excellent! What a poem to teach the kids and adults alike!
It sure would help all these mixed up people and all the sadness and sickness going on with it too. I'm taking this poem as drugs hookers, even the country now, etc. I hope that's how you wrote it for. I know people all see things different in the message and sometimes it isn't at all what you had written. I find that alot in my poems that I don't come right out and tell them. But as they say if the poem has not left some meaning and some emotion on the reader that poem has failed and to me this poem is NOT a failure at all. in fact it could be the winning ticket!!
