Taken from the earth, my sweet,
But buried in its yawn--
A life so very incomplete,
And dead before its dawn.

Idle hands will keep your grave,
(So little else to do)
In payment for the grace you gave
Before the debt was due.

So sleep, my child, remember me,
When soon again you wake
Where starlight holds you dreamlessly
In peace for Heaven's sake.
