"Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever. Let the redeemed of the Lord say so." Psalm 107:1-2 (RSV)

Let the redeemed say so. Who are the redeemed? These are they who have been rebirthed - transformed and possess God-consciousness.

There are different ways to thank God, to acknowledge his goodness and steadfast love. Surely, doing good deeds is an important way to thank God. Enduring suffering for righteousness' sake and growing toward full life are ways to thank God. Add to these, pursuing good health.

But for the redeemed, who by adoption are children of God, no expression or manifestation of gratitude to their Heavenly Father can compare with "saying so." Even when a person talks privately to God there is the efficacy to evolve. God has demonstrated the power in saying so.

During Creation God spoke and things happened that had never happened before. God said "Let there be light; and there was light." God said "Let us make man, and man became a living soul." And God said "It was good."

When Jesus taught his disciples how to pray he said "When you pray say 'Our Father who are in heaven... .'"

So whatever else or the manner we engage to thank God let us delight most in "saying" thanks. Even when only God hears the person, the person is rewarded. Of course, the calling of the redeemed is to say it to another person. They are charged to be God's witnesses. People need to hear a word from the Lord and it is the redeemed who can best declare that word.

Jesus said "For whoever is ashamed of me and of my words...of him will the Son of man also be ashamed, when he comes in the glory of his Father." Mark 8:38 (RSV)

Say it or sing it. Let it be heard. For in a certain way all vocalizing is singing. The rhythm makes it so. This truth is evident in Psalm.

When God wanted someone to go He asked, "Whom shall I send?" And who will go for us?" And I (Isaiah ) said, "Here am I. Send me!" (Isaiah 6:8).

Say "Thank you God. You are Good.  Your steadfast love endures forever." Say these things... .
