In the beginning God.   This is the four-word
declaration that begins the Bible. (Gen. 1.1)

God was in the beginning and the inference is
He preceded creation. After creating heaven
and earth, vegetation, animals and all creatures,
great and small, Then God, said, 'Let us make
man in our image, in our likeness.' Gen. 1:26

Who was the "us" God implored to make man?
Did that "us" exists before God created the
heaven and earth, vegetation, animals and other
creatures? That "us" certainly existed before
man. Was God referring to Jesus and, perhaps,
the Holy Spirit, when he said, Let us make man?
Jesus declared in the Gospel of John, Before
Abraham was born, I am. John 8:58 "I am"
overrules "I was."

Yet, the question remains, and I ask it not as
an inquisitor or atheist, but as a "by faith-
possessed" person, to paraphrase the Apostle
Paul, "I know in whom I believed." That is to
say, my believing has been replaced so now I
say "I know" Jesus as the Christ of God.
I sense that having this relationship with
Jesus Christ makes it all the more incumbent
that I know, if not now, later, "Who made
God?" and who was the "us" God enlisted
in making man?

Admittedly, for humans there are the known,
unknown and unknowable. God is omniscient,
knowing everthing. Indeed, He may choose
to answer these questions. Until then, when
eyes will see what they had not seen, ears
hear what they had not heard, and hearts
receive what they had not received, the
faithful must remain faithful in the
awareness that God continues to reveal
Himself in ways that have not been known.

I want to know who made God? I want to
know who God implored to make man? I am
convinced, in faith, that I will know in due
time, here or in eternity.
