Dogs, dogs, dogs. 90 million dogs
in the United States. God spelled
backwards is dog.
Who decided that?
Dogs! Dog! Dogs! We hear and see.
Yet, seldom do we hear God. Dog is God spelled backward.
Who thought of doing that?
We hear, "A dog is man's best friend." I'll take God, NOT a dog, as my best friend.
Today, it is estimated that of the 900
million domesticated dogs in the world
Americans own 90 million of them.
Dog owners often expect you and me to
greet, and/or play with or pet their dogs,
even when they do not greet, respect or
know you. They may even look the other
way when they see you coming if you do
not greet their dogs.
Jesus said "I called you no more sevants
but friends." He never called a dog His
friend. And neither will I.
I agree with you as to your thought of God being mans best friend rather than dog, but, as well, I love dogs as I love God because made dogs to be just that, man's friend...-e- (A thoughtful piece that I will be thinking about for awhile, thanks for posting this)
Poets are fond of wordplay and god and dog are easily transposed for satire or other purposes. Unless they are purposely trained or conditioned by life to be ugly, most dogs are friendly pack animals that include humans as a form of their pack. I can understand why you may have been conditioned to our dogs by what you faced in the civil rights protest lines with police with dogs actually hurting you and your fellow protesters.
And people in poor neighborhoods who would wish not to have guns may have dogs that they have condition to be very unfriendly to strangers. Bidding you to pet their dogs so that they will recognize you as a friend in the future.

Our Best Friend ought to be our Lord Jesus Christ. All other friends are a distant second to Him.
