Today, not far from us, a reportedly loving Husband and Father, returned home from work and in a meaningless violent rage took the lives of his Wife and Two small children.
The Police say that they can find no aparent reason for the Slaughter that took place, only to mention that this is the third such episode in four weeks.

As I wrote this, all I could do was to try to keep the tears from my eyes, so I could see the keyboard

Why?

No one knows why it happened
Today in the heat of the afternoon
When senses raw were sharpened.
The outburst spelled their doom.

He came home early, from daily toil.
Driving his car into the garage.
He slammed the door, his blood on the boil.
Stormed into the house in a violent rage.

The neighbors say they heard shouting
The screams, still ring in their ears
As the argument, suddenly growing
The children were screaming in fear.

Suddenly the battle was over.
An eerie silence fell over all
Over them all Death’s Angel did hover
From inside a small voice, for help it did call.

Swallowing fear, Neighbors Knocked on the door
As the screaming of sirens entered the street
The door swung ajar and there on the floor
They saw two tiny child’s feet.

They entered the hall saw Emily there,
Her six-year-old face so bloody and pale,
Beside her, her mother at the ceiling she starred,
The stain on the floor told the sad tale.

In the kitchen lay Billy, Teddy in hand.
Held close to his still lifeless breast
The radio played music, a Rock and Roll Band
While the tears dried on young Billy’s face.

In the lounge room sat Daddy, the knife in his hand
He cried calling the names of his kids and his wife
Looked puzzled as he saw, his own bloody hand
He smiled as he took his own life

And no one knows why it happened
Today in the heat of the afternoon
When senses raw were sharpened.
Or the outburst that spelled their doom.

Why?
How can anybody do that to the ones he loves?
I don't believe this.

This gave me chills up my arms, Robin... To have your mind crack and fracture, actually becoming the meaning of the word surreal, must be a kind of hell where up is down and the sea of the unthinkable drowns you in possibilities is frightening. Six and a half billion people on this earth, all with the ability to create havoc and chaos...how terrifying to be murdered by someone you love.

What if I crack...? I worry about that stuff.

"Why?" Has shown the reality... and I know why! It is because its author depicts life as it is.

An outstanding masterpiece to be added to many of Yours, and to enrich the golden pages of the Poetical History of Poetry.

I Salute You, Sublime Poet!

Robin,
This is so sad and it happens often no reason or apparent
one to explain the pain and lost depth that his mind was in
to coz him to take his own life but those he loved too.
This one yes tears...
Excellent write.

Peg
