I'm the poet on the cobbles-
I watch the world wash by
and the ebb and flow
of all I know
and echoed thoughts
from long ago
make me forget my troubles
as I watch the world wash by.

I'm the poet in the arcades
who dares to dream I'll die.
It's not a want,
it's all I've got-
I pray life's fair,
but know it's not-
it shows me how to be brave
as I dare to dream I'll die.

I'm the poet on the park bench,
I feel the force of fate.
I find today,
my conscience strays,
so my head
doesn't feel the pain,
of thirsty pangs left unquenched,
as I feel the force of fate.
