Hey you,
remember me?
We were so close,
a long long while ago.
Hey you,
can you believe?
I'm growing up, but
It's not so different now.
Look at me,
I'm reaching higher now
and trying to become someone
who can make you proud.
Look at me,
did you ever see?
How I always tried to impress you,
with those things that I acheived.
I swear
to you, I've tried
to make myself that little bit
more special in your eyes.
I swore
I'd never cry,
even though I'm still your
little girl on the inside.
Won't you please
just look this way?
And tell me that your proud
of how I'm turning out today.
Won't you please,
tell me now,
that you looked a little closer,
and that I make you proud.
No matter what I ever say,
however far I run,
I know that I just can't escape,
whatever I become.
My memories will always stay
my laughter, tears and strife.
as without the sun there is no day,
and without you, I have no life.

Sweet, poignant, touching. I have a daughter and a son and hope they feel the same. A poem like this is a nice tribute to your dad, Charley. Thanks- Jerry-
