Wasting to Nothing

So what am I to do,
I'm lost and wandering,
swaying, being forced
in every possibly direction.
Wherever you go, you'll see me,
though I don't really know
why I'll be there,
no doubt chasing
some wild dream,
or some heartbreaking nightmare.

There's him,
the be all and end all of everything,
the one who seems to be
the centre of my existance,
although I try to imagine
that he's nothing special.

There's the other one,
a good friend,
he makes me smile,
and pretends to care
like he wants to help,
when mostly, I think that
he doesn't want to know.

Then there's her,
she waltzes in,
makes me stop and stare,
dazzled for a moment,
starstruck for a second,
and suddenly, everything that is her,
is seeping into my head,
running through my veins
and I'm part of everything,
but nothing holds me down.

And then, there's me,
so bright, so funny,
I make them laugh,
I wipe their tears,
and teach them how to smile again,
and help them recover from broken hearts,
broken dreams,
and broken wishes.

But who makes me smile,
when tears blur my sight,
when nightmares fill my nights,
and when my heart takes flight,
and leaves me empty,
lonely,
wishing for everything,
caring for everything,
wasting to nothing.

Wonderful work, Charley.
Exposing one's own insecurities is the greatest sign of strength. You'll do just fine. And, besides....we're here.

You're headed in the right direction! Most of your life is integrated to be with others. Maybe you can look more for ways to cut your lonelines when there is no one to talk to or be around. Don't escape find outlets to use to drive away the blues. Records? Internet? Whatever you like to do or what turns you on. But remember you are never really alone. Bill

Not one of the three is worth your angst. You will never waste to nothing when your talent is this great.

I sooo know how you feel... I guess sometimes you just have to be there for yourself... as hard as it may seem... Nice write...
