I'm trying to imagine my life
in the perfect blend of
youthful maturity and
self-controlled freedom....
I want to be out there,
doing everything,
seeing everything,
being able to say,
I was there when that happened, and
I saw the sun rise from that mountain.
I want to be alone,
drifting in thoughtful solitude,
taking on every challenge,
and saying I stood on my own two feet.
I want to hold on
to everyone and everything
that I have here, now.
I don't want everything
that's mine now
to soon become distant memories.
I'm thinking and remembering,
making frantic snatches
at every opportunity to move
forwards, but without letting go
of the present.
Clutching at invisible straws.
But still racing,
forwards and ever upwards,
still looking for my dreams...
