where others had declined,
having seen my darker shadows,
and having met my broken mind.

She gave me compassion,
where others frowned in shame,
and looked at me and shook their heads
in true 'best friend's' disdain.

She gave me an answer,
where others looked away
and hoped that I would pass this phase
some soon and happy day.

She gave me the new hope
of dreams becoming true ,
when others' told me that some things,
you simply couldn't do.

She gave me a reason,
to search for answers here,
and find the secrets' hideaway
when others simply sneered.

She gave me a shoulder,
to lean on in the heat,
when all that I'd been carrying
was too heavy, too painful a feat.
