The power of a scent to evoke the memory
Of lovers beneath a starry summer sky --
The catch of breath as the familiar tune
Recalls the seductive touch of warm lips --
The images of home, the taste of warm bread
Causes to arise like yeast to the mind --
The feel of silk on bare skin
Warming old souls' youthful passions --
The face of a child, a composite of faces
Of generations past, returns lost loved ones --
Like a voyage on the magic carpet
Woven from the threads of life,
Senses transport the mind to once forgotten places,
Resurrecting moments, feelings, people.
They are the natural drug, expanding the mind,
Providing pleasure and pain, uniting past and present.
See, hear, touch, taste and smell --
Savor life.
