Children sat on His knee with confidence.
And He laughed with delight at their antics.
Surely they were His joy--when He lived among us.
For what were we, but demanding.
Healing, counseling, even rasing folks from the dead.
Imagine how taxing a life He led.
To the bitter end, when we crucified Him,
Hanged His beaten, bloody flesh on a cruel cross.
To the bitter end, He prayed for us,
Endured our groaning,
and loved our ungrateful selves.
