We have all met the character described here. I began writing a much longer much angrier poem which I'll leave in my W.I.P. File for now.

i know you have found christ

but you think and no one else believes?
i know you wish to share what you have found
but others believe, too.
they may not use your same words.

but others believe in jesus christ
know him lord and savior,
and have much to teach you
shut up and listen
lest you bring
the cause of christ
to disrepute

There always seems an ulterior motive behind it all I always think when I get preached to, why are they trying so hard....perhaps I am a cynic. I know what I believe and thats enough for me, I am content with my own thoughts...and until someone can do the vulcan mind probe I shall keep them to myself too.

Well said! We all have our own relationship with God -- I hate being preached to. Adviced and cared for, are different things. But I just detest those who rub The Book under my nose as if I didn't know existed!

Wow! You've summed up, brilliantly, pointedly, specifically, and oh, so poetically, a rant I've been waging for years! You mind-reader, you, John. This is just perfect! You may have shown more restraint than I, for the very words they use to 'promote' their thoughts are, to me, the groundwork of hypocracy. "judge not, lest ye be judged'... or my personal fav: 'let those among you without sin, cast the first stone..' Faith is in the heart and the soul... they spout rhetoric.. no different than a politician, but perhaps, more sinister. To me, they're more filled with themselves than with a true love for God. It isn't a contest, for god's sake.. I'm keeping this fabulous piece. katy xox.
