remembering dust

Some years ago I experienced a significant case of burnout. This is something that I learn that I had to remember ...


the lathe slows to stop
i eye the bowl growing there
not bad for a morning's work.
still a ways to go
but it's a start.

for a moment i
caress the curves of the piece
the walnut grounds me
its earthy dust
speaks to me

my business
is ideas
ideas that float
without the ground
with no point of reference
save their own dizzying height

the dust
of creating
calls to mind
that i am created of the dust

though ideas
soar

i must
touch the
earth

ashes to ashes and dust to dust and so on...the mind can only put out just so long then it takes its own sabbatical...that of burn out...glad you bounced back...Peace, Ed & rufuz

Very good. Most of us need to be well grounded. Some, however seem to soar without ever getting dusty.
