in the tolerances of
the joinery
between night and day
I lie awake and
watch and pray
in the grey not light
i
watch the reruns
of my life
the whys,
the hows,
and
the wherefores,
the what ifs and if onlys
sick at the heart
over choices
made and not made,
talent,
promise,
treasure
squandered
I pray vague
incomprehensible petitions
for solace,
understanding
peace,
and
sing tuneless praise
to the divinity
who stands there in the
cracks of dawn
for all that
I am
then
I go into the sunrise,
tunelessly
singing
in the promising dawn.
I usually say with regards the crack of dawn is that the closest thing to sexual organs I have seen of late IS the "crack of dawn" and I know it has nothing whatsoever to do with this poem, but when have I EVER had a clue...;) Ed
