bewailing the sins of others

atoning for sins
they never committed
there is no health in any of them
sex sin and moral theology

for some sex equals sin
for others sex is always wrong
you can oppress the masses
exploit you neighbors
oppress the land
just do not have sex and you’re
a saint
Question
is sin a catalogue of
thou-shalt-nots;
an arbitrary
list of no-no’s?
or
is sin an attitude
of heart and mind
that refuses to be ruled;
that looks out only for self
no matter what?
they start out describing
the same phenomenon
but end up poles apart.
one leads to perdition,
one leads to faith,
one leads to ambiguity,
one leads to growth,
one leads to certainty,
one leads to sanctimony,
one leads to hope,
one leads to despair,
