 Something of an anthem --
Something of a Battle Cry
++++++++++++++++


I Still Write Poetry

as a youth, shallow and inexperienced,
i smoked a pipe and wrote poetry,
the pipe is gone, the poetry remains

as a lover i wrote poetry to melt my ladies’ heart,
“seize the day, my sweet, whoever...”
the loves are gone, the poetry’s still here

from time to time the Censor in my head
has convinced me, or nearly so, that i
should grow up and put away my pen.

sometimes the world has so wrung and
worried and wearied me that for a time
there seemed no room nor time for poetry

but the laughing muse who fills my heart
with sight and song not check nor censor
knows. the poetry flows and overflows

i can not stop it. i will not try.
in spite time and tides, toll and tally
i still write poetry

Yes you write right on okay...never put that pen down....I only started to do this 3 months ago.....so I have a long way to go....but not with out my friend okay

Poetry flow so the story goes and there goes John a tracin' to catch up with his pen. Hand in air he is writing everywhere.
