The nights are long and you search the streets
Never the equal of you to meet
A little is here and a little is there
Not quite enough to completely compare
The ego of one with the Id of another
A desire to suck in, entrap and to smother
For dreams that escape with a victim suspect
In a space of lost time where senses detect
A smile that's inviting, a sameness of heart
A face with my spirit, a shadow and spark
Eyes that hold images locking with same
Passing in darkness he whispers my name
Scars with soft tissues embedded in souls
A heart reaching out to break your mold
Faces are masked and asking to dance
With a night showing promise
Passions with chance
As long as I'm walking
Each step on a stone
Streets full of people
In pairs or alone
Showing their love or blending in grays
When the sun hits the shadows
Then I've seen better days
Challenge is an issue for each fated step
Becomes progress in finding the Id with my depth
For lust is one thing that passion can't hide
And if wishes were horses more fools would ride.

Wonderful introspection... ... and a great quip at the end.

Never and forever only exist in ignorance alongside with limit and paradox. The ignorant mind is incapable of seeing the powers of measure beyond measure of other realms. All that most think we know here and now is an illusion that one time, one place we may ponder to assess how we dealt with what we believed to be reality. This poem may still be retrievable there and then and probably you will see things contained within it that would have surprised you had you been able to see it now as you will see it then. I guess this applies to everything everyone does, thinks or says in this world. Being unwilling to try to imagine what may be beyond this illusion, is what keeps it alive, what keeps us trapped. It will require a joint effort of all alive now to escape this illusion. If we don't do that ourselves, it will be done for us.

Susan,

Despite the world descending into madness, if one looks for beauty, they will find it. Powerfully inspiring write--well done!

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

"For lust is one thing that passion can't hide" is a phrase of a happenstance reaction from a powerful force and when merged with "sameness of heart," is a dynamic character fortunate enough to have found each other in reality as opposed to fantasy. Hope you find someone deliciously pleasurable and with a measurable IQ to match your brilliance, Susan.

Susan I really enjoyed this one and it seemed almost like a counter balance to my poem "Dantes Demon's Night". I guess the common theme is that we must continue to look for the best in our society and help those we can.

We are all searching for that special someone, who is the figment of our imagination, and desire of our hearts, more often than not, we have to lower the bar, calm our passions, and accept what the good Lord provides Susan
As I have found out in life, he never shortchanges you in any way
A wonderful and insightful write, that shows your humanity and care

Peter
