The nights are long and you search the streets
Never the equal of you to meet
A little is here and a little is there
Not quite enough to completely compare
The ego of one with the Id of another
A desire to suck in, entrap and to smother
For dreams that escape with a victim suspect
In a space of lost time where senses detect
A smile that's inviting, a sameness of heart
A face with my spirit, a shadow and sparks
Eyes that hold images locking with same
Passing in darkness he whispers my name
Scars with soft tissues embedded in souls
A heart reaching out to break your mold
Faces are masked and asking to dance
With a night showing promise
Passions with chance
As long as I'm walking
Each step on a stone
Streets full of people
In pairs or alone
Showing their love or blending in grays
When the sun hits the shadows
Then I've seen better days
Challenge is an issue for each fated step
Becomes progress in finding the Id with my depth
For lust is one thing that passion can't hide
And if wishes were horses more fools would ride.
A never ending search Susan...but keep on. Such challenging concepts we are often to impatient to accept or understand...just like those wishes! Super write.

"And if wishes were horses more fools would ride." :) You can spin a phrase better than any one I know. Love and lust are confused to the point of absurdity and in the wake of the confusion comes heartache and chaos.

here--the ID, the Human Condition, and sigh...got to me this as it somehow just struck home, hard and you are so passionate in your writing and ahhh...I, also love those last two lines...

Did you hear me sigh? It was loud enough. More of a barking sigh. Something caught in my throat about the time you wrote, "Passing in darkness he whispers my name." That, then, is how it is. When you name is whispered in that special way you have been selected to receive THAT love which you shall never forget, no matter how life that love. When sitting on that porch in old age, life spent, but old lovers eyes still glimmer with desire for that special one that whispered your name. This one I felt. But then, you know that already, huh?
