As long as I can remember I have believed pride to be one of the downfalls of mankind,yet we all seem to feel it at some point in our lives. I prefer feeling joy for others and celebrating their accomplishments with them over taking pride in them for what they achieve. You have written this so well. Pierre.
oh, as others here have said, such wisdom, to see both sides of this human tendency... yes, necessary to make one believe in onself, but when the reains are broken, devastating results, this is quite an insightful, though provoking piece, dear Susan and it so captures the 'two sides' of Pride...the need for just enough and again, well, what it can wreak when it grows beyond ...bravo, Susan for quite a poem!

It is a pity that the English language is so deficient in giving out meanings. For there are many different "pride" as there is "love". One can be proud of one's achievements but if it turns to arrogance, then pride becomes insupportable. And I think that is what you mean. Great poem, I'm proud to be tracking you :-) Victor
Pride to an extent is a necessity, if no pride we have low esteem, it is when pride is excessive to the point of blocking ones view that problems arise. Well done Susan, anohter keeper.
