I wrote this high above on the Dingle Penninsuela while on hiatus in Ireland. I've never seen so many beautiful and different flowers anywhere else like Ireland.
Blessed be the Irish gardener
Horticulture with a flair
Genetic knowledge , engineered
Through years, I do declare!
I envy those with green thumbs
With dirt beneath their nails
Stone fences wrapping all their dreams
In treasured Gaelic cells
Wonder of this rich earth
Pastels of poseys nod
I couldn't grow a blossom
Even with the help of God
I reason with my jealous side
To seed? I do abort
This girl from Dixie does confess
"I couldn't grow a wort!"
Sure seems like home to me, Susan, and makes me want to go grab me seccateurs and cuttings basket and plant all them silver bells and cockle shells all in a row! The coastal floras ARE amazing and I am so looking forward to my first spring and summer truly savouring them. Thank you for this darling appetiser. Totally love this - worts and all! :)) K xx
Sure, and the likes aof you and I must be content with planting and growing good verse... colorful lines that wave in the breeze of our readers' quests. You're on par with the best of the Irish, and we like how you cultivate that brain and sow great florals such as the above. Keep sharing your travels and lamentations, Dear Heart!

Ah but you plant new sees in each write you do with your images of places and things you have seen and done. Seeds of romance from the love you have shared and seeds of hope in the new dawns that you offer us salvation. LOL, the humor is lovely here, Susan, and the imagery you've used makes me want to visit Ireland. Maybe someday. Very nice poem, my friend, and a pleasure.

I tried growing mashed potatoes once. Heh, in an unusual pet competition, I entered with a tin of salmon.
"I couldn't grow a wort!"
Without a wort (wart) there is no danger of being dragged off, accused of being a witch, to the town logician!
Nice coastal photograph. It reminds me of the northern side of the Mull of Kintyre.
