Hunting Island, South Carolina is one of the beautiful and raw barrier islands along the southeast coast.It is also a national park and one of the most insprational places I've ever visited. It is east of Beaufort, South Carolina and loaded "Kodack moments".
Sunday Reflection... Hunting Island, South Carolina
Stretches of coastline chopped into islands
Dying old trees living in silence
Wonderful lack-a-daysical day
Strumming the heart in peculair ways
Osprey out dining from tree to tree
Dragging his dinner twix he and thee
Off in the distance the Sandpiper's dance
Amid tidal influx with a seafoam chance
Pelicans, Terns and Laughing Gulls
Rotting tree trunks and old stumps that bulge
Making a Sunday more special than most
Footprints in time along the Eastcoast
There is a hand wrapped to another
Moments of grace while tender lips smother
Words for the memory laced all in tears
Wondering if hopes can hold down the years
Seconds stand still on wings of a whim
Shudders are open to catch it on film
Moments so full and recalling time
When long legged damsels tasted a rhyme
Back in the days when hearts ran free
Open and shut , longing to be
Time in a capsule refreshed anew
Chasing the tears as yesterday flew
Hunting Island... lost to a thought
A hoopskirted Rebel with her Swampfox
Mysterious spirits break in a new day
Along silent barrier islands that play
Host to the memories of days gone by
When romance is caught in low misted sighs
Chasing the dreams of Dixie and ghosts
Dangling in time along the Eastcoast
Nature and trees and tides all sashayed
Making a moment important today.
What a wonderful job of displaying South Carolina's beauty. I have not been there in probably seventeen years but your poem makes me want to call my travel agent!

This is so beautiful and serene. Quiet times, looking out on the stretch of sand or out into the ocean is the best. I have a similar place like this that I call the edge of the world, at Montauk Point Long Island. I turly love this excellent piece.
I breezed along as I read the poem and I swear I saw what you saw and I heard what you heard. You have a marvelous capacity for making that happen in your work. What a descriptive journey to somewhere which you undoubtedly cherish.
In "A Touch of Your Presence" are words that would inspire, encourage and strengthen one's soul when faced with challenges and difficulties and to know the awesomeness of God's power.
