From my poetry attic. This one was dedicated to an art student who worked for me. I watched him as his heart broke over a chorus girl performing Off Broadway.
They were sweethearts in high school. His pain and devastation was real and my heart suffered along with his for he will always be a special friend. We all hurt a little when our friends get broken.
Latest update is that he is "in love" again. When he finds real love...he'll notice the difference.

Ricochet love rebounding like hops
Hopes on the loose ... misery flops
Into this pit of robust despair
Flown with the wind without a care
His fault or hers, who really knows?
Retort of a wail as moans come and go
In glides a Romeo... smile on the wind
Checking out tears with emotions to bend
Love rising up and thinking of passion
Thoughts that go deep in the right fashion
Realizing the hurt and to give it wings
With Romeo's words like sweet tunes that sing
For love is still there waiting for him
Or her as the mold transforms to grim
No chances of her taking sour with the sweet
Lust making cadence with new hearts that meet
For the old, the crux of desires that were true
As forgetting is bouncing like tears from the blue
For all forlorned hearts that jump when they hear
The ricochet beats of a heart die'n near.
