relations

by Cynth'ya Lewis Reed — Read all 584 poems by Cynth'ya Lewis Reed

Why is it some will run to a stranger before blinking at a blood relative during the holiday season?

Monday, December 15, 2008

some strangers speak
in open air,
some kins speak from a box,
vagabonds befriend aware
relatives don't knock;
holidays, they obligate
the bloodlinks in charades,
all the while kin stage a smile,
yet strangers lavish praise.

family lends a helping hand
but charts a swift return,
strangers pay it forward
sharing lifetime lessons learn'd,

are not we born alone birth
and left alone in crypts,
the strangers wander wondering
why families wear stiff lips?

Sometimes it is just easier to express one's feelings to a stranger that has no dog in the hunt, wise words Cynth'ya....

Be always safe,

I have had family members hurt me in the past; I still live with the memories years later as a result of it. We are not close; the only ones who are are my twin and me. Great write, Cynth'ya; you make us think! Well done!

(((HUGS))), much love, and MERRY CHRISTMAS to you and yours!

As always, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :( X0X0X0X0X0X0X0X0X0

Sometimes family members can hurt you more than anybody else. Its amazing that a stranger can hear a person, but yet a family member doesn't understand where we come from or listen to what is inside of our hearts. An excellent poem, take care

Cynth'ya,

As it is said, you can't pick your family, but you can pick your friends. Sad, isn't it? Well done.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

Much wisdom in this poem and it's in pride and hate that separates us from family.

As the Lord said,no respect in his hometown...somehow families don't see their kin as others do...Excellent as always Cynth'Ya!
