FOREVER
She wanted me to say forever
to tell the truth, that had been on my mind.
But, I was afraid that her forever,
might last much longer than mine.
Life forever changes,
each and every single day.
Sometimes we go in the same direction.
Sometimes we go our separate way.
Sometimes we get to thinking
that ours is the only way.
If she just doesn’t agree,
forever should she stay?
I never wanted to argue,
I just don’t like to fight.
When you see couples doing that,
their forever is coming in sight?
I’m not the kind of guy
who has more than one lover at a time.
Still, I’m looking for the perfect one,
meant forever to be mine.
I’ve never believed that love should hurt,
forever causing pain.
That might be the time to call it off,
to “come in out of the rain.”
I’d like, forever to live my life
with someone that I enjoy.
But, when it’s no longer fun,
she should find another toy.
And so, the time had come
for our forever to end,
she may no longer be my lover,
but she'll forever be my friend.
