FREEDOM
The needle on my compass
points me in the right direction.
I keep my speed just under the radar,
hoping to avoid detection.
As the speedometer nears the limit,
or occasionally, just a little past.
I’m heading down the wrong road
and going nowhere fast.
The numbers on my odometer
massage my restless soul.
I’ve traveled a long and lonely road
freedom my only goal.
But freedom has its costs,
there have been some lonely nights
and I’ve seldom, had a companion
to share the lovely sights.
I’ve been a wanderer at heart,
a loner by concession.
Now she’s here and listening,
as I offer my latest confession.
Peace,
Dayvid
