I'm a low key private person, if I were attention starved, here in Baltimore we have quite a few spoken word places to verse, but I don't. Once I did and in the future am planning on doing it again. The den is purely a sitting on the sofa laptop affair.
I just want to mention
I do not write for attention
I can't even get
five good reviews
beating up on AD
is getting to be old news
I'm not attention motivated
this verse has me
poetically captivated
What motivates most
getting rid of
the boredom ghost
Doesn't bother me
I'll write
if I have to I'll fight
as long as it excite
I don't even have to
think it through
versing is purely
something to do
Too much attention is a mistake. I'm also very low key person, I have my books to sell, and that's the only time I will advertize about my books, but it is up to the poets here and my friends to whether buy them or not. I don't count on the sales of my books to make a living, so there is no need for me to be an attention grabbers.
However, some people do hate others' successes and they will try anything to say that I have cried for attention. This happened to me at the time that I had lost my father, and in my grieves I had posted poems to reflect my true feelings. Somebody sent a type-written note to my mailbox telling me I had cried for attention all over the board, and that I needed to grow up.
Some people would pick on you no matter what you do. I'm not crying for attention, my recent poems are to RID of all the imaginary sins that some ignorant idiots have placed upon me.

Please keep writing, Gem; I feel like you do. I'm lucky if I get more than six reviews on a story whereas my poems keep getting hit, which I do NOT like OR want!! I'd rather have people read my stories than my poetry; I am *NOT* a poet!! I am a STORYTELLER!! Good rant!
