My need for you rattles around my rib cage
making knocking noises so loud, if you're near,
I know must be audible;
and yet I like the way it feels.
Once released it pours its torrents out
upon that welcoming landscape
which is your heart;
satiation so easily achieved
each time it takes my breath away.
So great a fire as mine
is by you quenched
with such facility;
by your touch and smile
it, too, amazes me.
It must,
I've surmized,
have its counterpart
inside you as well:
a perfect match between us--
between my need and your
perfect receiving--
garlanding an unbreakable bond
between us, even as most don't understand
what there could possibly be between us that ties.
I said:
"You can have anyone is this town, why me?"
She said;
Because what you have to give
I desperately need to receive;
we satisfy mutual cravings.
It is not so mysterious." she said.
"This has been our secret pact now going on for years:
but never consummated with sex or lust
and thus
it has a certain purity for me.
It's light shines, in the starry night
and even causes the Sun to blink
in broad day-light
on us:
I, the Widow.
You the Widower.
