Mock me while I play the fool

While I droop my head in shame

In presence of one so sweet and cruel

Torturing me once again

I can’t fathom how this person

With such kindness in his touch

Who could rescue me from hurting

Yet suffers me so much

How mixed emotions sparked

This colored chemistry

Luring yet an artless heart

To crave its misery

And confound it, in a sense,

That defies what teachings taught

Weaving round its raw offense

To clout my chain of thoughts

While love bemused the mind

It could but grapple yet

Promises averred in time

And then too soon forget

Yet I’ve taken to endure

This devastating mood!

Though never knowing, feeling sure

I’ll be his constant fool.
