I sigh in faint distress

In relief of glum silence

Just while our pasts reflect

A mass of emptiness

The man who once fulfilled

The void inside of me

Is now beside himself

And where I used to be

I thought I mumbled what

Twisted the hands of Fate

For truth, I cannot know

If not the look upon his face

It is as though dreams

Were stolen from his eyes

And trembled are his lips

That torments me alike

I told him nothing is

When nothing were at first

But I’d tell him anything

To justify that hurt

He stares right through me

In candid disbelief

Reminded and reminding me

Of each abandoned dream

But a frail and broken heart

May never soon believe

That at this very end

We shall begin to live

There should be more to say

Yet I have said enough

Perhaps he’s heard it all

Through anger… and through love

Heavy breaths and heaving chest

Below a face turned pallid

I thought I heard him wept

So long before I did.
