We live as neighbors, become close friends
Always there to lend a hand
I pass your house every day
Last night in passing something is different
Wasn't sure why a tarp lay on the roof
Shingles knocked loose
Windows are black
With my concern I make a call
Only to find out their house was on fire
A stranger stops to help
What can I do, save my pictures and my bible
So pictures he grabs from off the walls
Fire companies from all around help to battle the fire
Firemen carry out belongings as much as they can
Furniture scattered all over the yard
A seven room house, only three rooms are saved
I offered my help in any way I can
She said its in the hands of the Insurance Company now
So off they go to her mothers house for dinner
Then later to the apartment they make their new home
One thing she said, I thank God that I still have my home that will need lots of work, but most of all I have my family no one was hurt
