EMOTIONAL VAMPIRE

Beware the emotional vampire

Who would suck your spirit dry

While preening he'd admire

The tears....he made..... you cry

Boasting  of the souls he's trapped

A canyon full of bones

Kisses RIP as necks are snapped

Before a cry ........or moan

Garish crown of evil ways

Polished to high shine

'Neath the glamour....all is frayed

As dulcet lies.....malign

The pleasure found in causing pain

Would elevate this mind

Without the pure....to drain by vein

His eyes rot and blind

And with each victim comes a mask

That he MUST claim as his

He drains their souls....to fill his flask

For that....IS ALL..........he is!

Anita

Anita,
This is one of the best poems I've ever read in 42 years!
The way you kept the rhythm with meaningful order in your
your rhymes, and the resume of what the title says is so
very well expressed!!!
Absolutely Fantastic and Incredibly Excellent poem!!!

I have known quite a few people like this, both men and women. They just suck and suck the life out of you. They are also very difficult to get rid of. If this is real, I hope you manage to escape. Excellent poem. ~ Sara

The only way I have found to rid yourself of these vamps is to drive a stake through their heart, just make sure that your stake is made of well selected words that sear their heart beyond recovery or they may return. Good poem. Great job

Excellent write... when you give your all to love, just to be sucked dry... the pain and the hurt to realize it wasn't love at all...

Anita this is high drama poetry at it's very best. Combining story telling with a passionate flare of romance. Very origianal and unique write.

A life saving write, Lady A. I know too many vampires like this--

Painfully written, horrifying to realize that people will allow this to continue. "ENOUGH'S ENOUGH!"

(((HUGS))) and love and continued prayers, Karla. :(

I know this character well as I was once involved with a man like this. It took me all of four months to get "hip" to his game. I call him the "psychic vampire". Same differance. I still shiver at the thought of it. Your write is a perfect expression, Anita...

I can think of a man right now that fits this poem perfectly that is hurting a very close friend of mine so this touched me very deeply today. Wish I had enough light to zap him back from where he came from! Perfect descriptions!

The sad thing is some of them have no
clue that they are vampires, even sadder
is the ones that are aware and continue to drain
others energy. Best defense, as garlic isn't going
to work on these types of vampires is to walk away.
Or in Buddha's word: Detachment.

Well, this is odd... we have both read sexual bias into this - and the weird thing is I was thinking this sucker was a woman until it was made explicit in the penultimate stanza: wot a betrayer of my own sex!! Whatever, if the cap fits, I suppose. A very unsavoury mindset that preys on tasty offerings... we live and learn: "by their teeth shall you know them"! Stylish and deft as always, Anita. TY Kate xx

I think I would rather deal with the blod sucking variety
at least you know they are doing it and you know why you feel drained
