A tragedy befell in Somalia
As terror attack has killed 300
We have shed tears of blood
We are now reeling back from the shock
As we are slowly regaining our balance
The youth action has injected us hope
With a red cloth on their head
The came out in large numbers
To remove the huge terror mess
But unlike tragedies in other cities
Only few have grieved with us
Fewer have written about our pain
We were not alone though
Paris has mourned with us
Eiffel lights have gone dim
Thanks to Mayor Hidalgo
She has calmed our hearts
She deserves our respect
Turkey has dispatched medics
Toronto turned its sign blue
Malaysia has sent prayers
Qatar has flown the wounded
America rushed with medicine
Djibouti dispatched doctors
Växjö City has paid tribute
Tragedy has no race or color
In the face of terror attacks
The World must show solidarity
Equal mourning for all is needed
As otherwise the world can`t take
a united front to fight terrorism.
By your poem you have raised awareness. Here in the United States the bombing was a single line of news reporting amid the deadly fires in California, Las Vegas shooting and the hurricane destruction in Puerto Rico. All taking news time.
Americans have a bad taste in their mouth from what happened when a Black Hawk helicopter was shot down trying to assassinate a warlord many years ago now, in Mogadishu. The lawlessness in Somalia and the kidnapping of innocent sailors in international waters have all attributed to an attitude here that Somalia is a lost cause not worth the time and effort to save.
It is the hard work and perseverance of your own people to make right with everything including deadly terrorist attacks. These attacks are more prevalent in countries where you don't have adequate ways of detecting them will come. Even with all our intelligence abilities here in the United States, we haven't stopped all terrorist attacks from happening.
Tragedy has no race or color, and terrorists have no boundaries. It is indeed a sad world we live in, sorely lacking in love and respect for our fellow man.
This is indeed a tragedy that needs to be recognized as such. I belong to an organization that helps people suffering world wide and responds to the needs of all people. God bless...
