In Dr. Osman's clinic, treatment starts before you meet the doctor. The paintings serve as healing agents for patients who understand and appreciate arts. Most of Somalis come to the West with disturbed minds due to the war and horrific migration episodes and thus they need to go through a psychological healing process to adjust themselves better in their new life. Thank you Dr.Osman for your creative thoughts of helping your patients with the power of your paintings eventhough most of them are not necessarily Somali immigrants. May this clinic be a model for other health facilities around the world! Dr. Osman who is an artist and a doctor lives in St . paul, North Carolina.
A nice tribute. War and the dislocation of citizens by war is very traumatic. We need people who can work with those traumatized and help them recover more quickly from the horror that haunts them.
