this is all too personal for/to me, it speaks so well of that lingering darkness where we 'wait' unable at times to get to that wick to bring that spark, and it is all so true, you know?
That spark, that 'wick', once we go to it, light it and 'see', makes one think and Feel, this is such a lovely, painfully true piece, the imagery works all so well and I Thank you for the Beauty of your own sharing of this 'Inner Light'...

As a clinical counselor I work with a lot of people who are "in the darkness" of their own thoughts. When I'm discouraged I remind myself I'm planting seeds in their mind which may sprout in the future. Your poem gives me another way to look at my fearful and stuck clients.....they are waiting for a primal spark. That image gives me a sense of anticipation. Perhaps for some of them I can be be the rough surface that allows a spark. Thanks for the new metaphor.
You give the colors of the soul room to bloom in your hands. This is penned with the beauty, tenderness and soulful passion that comes from within.
