She had knelt upon the shoreline
With her heavy heart bereaved
Praying for her lone Valentine
On each February eve
For years, this deed so humble
Had left a true sense of loss
‘Til the evening when she stumbled
Upon the white, sea foam cross.
The scene, once dark and sorrowed
That spoke of the pain within
For the sacred days she’d borrowed
Never to relive again
Suddenly seemed rich with wonder
As she peered upon the sand
Where her life, once torn asunder
Found its strength in God’s Command.
As she looked into the distance
Upon the late winter sky
She realized the foam’s existence
Was his spirit floating by
And she knew that he was with her -
Their souls forevermore entwined
For no distance could e’er deter
The love between two Valentines.
