The roots of love are growing
Far beneath the shallow ground
Like a river freely flowing
Filled with hope and faith abound
So that when life’s drier weather
Comes to cease the blessed rain
Love’s stronghold shall bind together
And forevermore sustain.

The roots of love are planted
Deep within the heart and soul
And are not taken for granted
When life’s hardships gain control
Love’s tendrils, ever fragile
Are embe dded with the will
To remain carefree and agile
When against the bitter chill.

The roots of love empower
As they stretch across the miles
Leaving memories that shower
Joyful kindness, warmth, and smiles
These roots contact all creation
In the face of shade and gloom
To create a strong foundation
For love’s everlasting bloom.

Yes, to all that you said, but it is when the roots of love is groundless that it has trouble surviving.

Jill,
You are the poet that most strive to be. Not only are the poems themselves perfect in every way, so are the subjects.
Thanks for sharing your talents.
