Dear Dad, I hope you’re doing well
I’m fine, as far as I can tell
The Christmas tree’s aglow, at last
This year has surely flown by fast
The weather has turned colder, too
Just like the days I’m without you
In thinking of you, I find peace
But, the emptiness shall never cease.
I stop and think of all you’ve missed
The joy and grief too great to list
From Ike, that left us nearly broken
To my successes, still unspoken
Indeed, this year has been quite tough
But, when I feel I’ve had enough
I recall how you never quit
Through times as tough as they could get.
I wrote the Christmas cards, today
And struggled with the words to say
The process seemed to last for hours
Just like our December rain showers
With the last card, signed and addressed
I told myself, I did my best
Through the process, I felt you there
Guiding from your angelic chair.
Dear Dad, Christmas is here, once more
And, yes, Santa is on the door
Without you, so much has now changed
Making this season somewhat strange
But, you are in a better place
Spending this Christmas in His Grace
The sunlight marks your smile, above
And fills my heart with endless love.

Moving tribute to your Dad, I know it hurts, but as you wrote, he is in a better place waiting to see more writings!

With a daughter like you, distances and absences don't matter very much.

Very loving and warm. Your memories of your Dad brings all of us to a recollection of our own Dads....and missing them too. Enjoyed this much.

Such a touching a beautiful write. And what a fantastic tribute your father. Being without a loved the first time on a holiday is tough.

I understand the pain of missing a loved one this holiday season: my Daddy passed back in May, as you know. How I miss him. He always made Christmas. We always have the memories ... you have penned a beautiful, heartfelt tribute to him. I'm sure he's proud of his little girl. Well done.
(((HUGS))) love and prayer, Karla. *tears*
