Once upon a blessed time, a fortune -- rich and rare
Appeared before my doubtful eyes and offered tender care
Its destiny was built on trust, enhanced by joy and love
I soon realized I’d been endowed by a gift from above

The fortune that bestowed my heart brought hope beyond belief
It mingled with my gallant soul and joined to spread relief
Not just to me, but to the world once the ties were begun
O’er years, this kismet in my heart was touched by morning sun

Through the days when the sunlight streamed, laughter became the norm
Cold, empty spaces known to man were once again quite warm
And, as for me, I carried on; surely I trudged ahead
I kept my fortune near my side, grateful for what it fed
Moved by my dreams and passions true , the fortune fueled my fire
My heart, once filled with lasting doubt, again beat with desire
Yearning to face the days ahead with faith near to my side
God’s favor ‘twas present, throughout; His fortune was my guide
Five years have passed since God’s fortune came to my heart and soul
The hopes I’ve chased and dreams I’ve lived have served to make me whole
I’m better for this path I’ve known and blessings I have seen
I’m thankful for the gift God gave and where my life has been
The fortune found before my eyes – so many years ago
Has touched my heart in ways I doubt that many near could know
But, trust me, God bestowed the best; He knew just what should be
Thank you, my friends, for the “fortune” that you have been to me!!!
