I will not pander to the pack

Join the numbers in attack

I will not quench the smoking flax

Or surrender, become lax.

We choose our doctrines to our taste,

And even scripture may be laced

with preference, and deception bent

perverting Divine intent.

Oh, link me to eternity

my disillusioned soul to loose

Welcome, Truth, and set me free

and fasten wings upon my shoes.

Some truths must be found alone,

then distilled by silvery fire.

I bend my reason and my strength

To all that's heavenly, aspire.

Bess, it's nice meeting you. Thank you, for commenting on my article. I like this poem you wrote "Insubordinate". I think that's what many think I am, because I don't "pander to the pack". Truly, to bend one's "reason and strength to all that's heavenly, aspire" can at times leave us very alone, but I do believe anything for God is worth whatever trials we may endure.

In Christian love,
Patty

Bess, excellent write. Fortunately we have the luxury of being able to make our own choices.
