I have put all of my eggs in one
theological basket.
I believe the old stories,
the God of the Bible.
So, what if I'm wrong?
I have loved more strongly;
Been kinder to my neighbors;
Cherished hope
And faith in dark places
than if I did not believe.
I have prayed for people
who have little use for me.
I have devoted my character
to growing more and more
like the Ideal Human Being.
Without Christ,
I would live for myself,
agonize over every decision,
Worry myself into ulcers.
I don't want to be
the highest animal 
on the evolutionary ladder.
I am the crowning touch 
Of God's creation.
I choose my "delusion"
over the sceptic's
cynical view of
"reality."
I believe,
 because my
reaching spirit feels 
 Reality,  Eternity
the God named "I AM."
I hear answers
when I search the dark,
I stubbornly cling.
And I am not wrong.
