After spending 16 years in a cathedral choir, I have seen this image many times! A staunch woman, "Standing by her man" as Patsy Cline put it so well, is both a "Rock" when one is on land, as well as an "Anchor" when one is floundering at sea! It is then not difficult at all, to envision her, bearing him up, on her "Angel Wings" also!
I love your imagery "general in pink" - POWERFUL, yet delicate - it calls to mind the old adage: "The hand that rocks the cradle RULES the world!"
