We’ve been together, for most of the time,
Week in and week out, for a good many years.
Together we’ve worked, each day, side by side,
Had many good times as well as some tears.
We’re still sweethearts and lovers,
You’re my very best friend,
Though we still need the friendship of others
It is on each other we depend.

We spend time together, you still hold my hand,
We cuddle up to watch a film on TV
Though companionable silence really is grand
we can talk ten to the dozen, just you and me,
Of shopping and gardening and weird fashion trends,
and reminiscing on the places we’ve stayed,
About family and friends,
and all the precious memories we’ve made

I really miss you, when you go away
Home is so silent, except for the tick of that clock
And even though you’re just gone for the day
Delivering Rainbows to some Scottish Loch
In this house there is a definite lack,
Your heartbeat is missing, yes it is true ,
I am just waiting for you to come back,
and really look forward to an evening with you.
