It's about the harship that faces a single mother, and the reasons she doesn't give up.
Her feet hurt from standing ten hours a day
she stops at the store on her way home,
walking the aisles, she counts a few small bills
three small children wait for what she brings
after she pays at the counter
she walks to the bus stop, and sighs deeply, just enough change to get home
she has no idea how she'll get to work
tomorrow
At home, she thanks her sister for sitting. Joy brightens her tired features when three smiling faces
greet her with a kiss.
The children now fed, homework done
now she tucks them into bed
she looks thru the mail, th rent is due
she has taken on yet another day with a smile, once again, she's made it thru.
But at night, she cries....
and then she'll pray.
She visits the landlord down the hall
her pleas for more time fals on deaf ears,, so she removes her dress,
and her babies have a home for another month
In her lonely room, she misses her man
dying way too soon. Sometimes she feels
like giving up, some nights she just wants to die. But three precious smiles
give her the will to go on
so at night, she cries....
and then, she'll pray
for, she knows the mighty hand of GOD
will carry her thru yet another day.
