Sheba was my first pet, and my best friend. he's gone now, and I shall miss her dearly!
She was midnight black, and cotton-soft
She was timid and sweet and funny
She was orphaned at only two weeks old
when she wondered into my life
She took away my loneliness
and thawed my once frozen heart
with her with her sweet and gentle ways
She nudged from me, smiles of joy
and helped me make a new start
With her undying devotion, she awoke
in me, a sense of true friendship
with her big Sapphire eyes,
she begged from me, that longed for
emotion of love
When I spoke to her, she listened
but I wonder if she understood
how she evoked in me, the desire
to see and do good
When I patted her soft furry head,
could she tell how special she was to
me?
I don't really know, so I put it all
on paper
how I learned to love again
from Sheba, my beloved puppy.

Denise, we never get over the loss of a pet; especially the first one. But we are thankful for al the joy they brought to us. Such a very tender poem. Love it. Hugs Bill
