Sexual abuse is not always violent. more often than not, it is seduction. That's why children don't tell. This is a reality. We must be very careful what we impress on children's minds, or they'll be confused as to who's really showing love.
Daddy works and pays the bills
he buys me pretty dresses with
lots of lace and frills
Mommy feeds me very well
but she's too tired to help with my homework
When I come home from School
they greet me pleasantly
no hugs or kisses, but I'm sure they care
they take good care of me,
but they're not always there
Mr. Jones tutors me after School
he is my very best friend
he tells me I'm so pretty
and hugs me when we study
he reads my poetry,
says I'm a true artist
mom says I should stop
daydreaming, and do my homework
today, Mr. Jones hugged me,
and asked me for a kiss!
Unsure at first, but I know
he loves me like my folks
he is the only one
who holds me when I cry
so a kiss between friends
is not a bad thing, is it?
he shows me he cares
I feel so safe in his arms
he makes me feel nice and warm
he makes me feel special
I know he means me no harm
he never does anything to hurt me
he never yells or calls me names
afterall, when my folks fight
shout and scream at each other
I can go to him for comfort
he undestands my ordeal
he shares the pain and fear I feel
so I let him touch me sometimes
and I will never tell
about Mr. Jones and me
I'll keep our secret very well.

Reviews of "Bad Impressions ( sensitive subject matter!)"
Denise, this is so tastefully written that it could be posted anywhered: especially in a parenting magazine! Well done: our children are born with a blank slate and we write their lives upon it. We must take great care what we write. Eloquent! ~~BonnieQ
This is so much a reality, probably for one out of 3 little girls in the world. Of course you should have posted this, and I'm glad that you did. Don't ever let the "politically correct" make you sweep a great poem under the rug. Every time we hear about it, awareness is raised, and perhaps one child saved. Keep on writing. keep on posting. Great poem.
Perhaps you could post this under "Relationships", as relationships are not only meant in a romantic way. As a Survivor of childhood sexual abuse, I commend you; this is work that needs to be expressed. (I have quite a few posted in my Den.)
Oh my, girl... This was one controversy write.
This was excellent, the way you brought it out.
I felt the young girl's emotional upset.
You've brought out the innocence of her actions, and crafted the
best reality poem.
This was well written, and I for one commend you.
When Kathy finds a small stray kitten some amazing things happen. Story's from a Mom's view of the love, caring and patience needed when a child wants to own a pet. Recipient of the prestigious Mom's Choice Award. Delightful illustrations!

You May Be Single, But You’re Not Alone.
Being a great dad is challenging enough when you’re part of a two-person team. But now you’re raising your kids single-handedly. How can you provide the emotional, physical, and spiritual support your
