requesting we rendezvous
barefoot in your vineyards.
For I will not allow
the balls of my feet
nor the tips of my toes
to trample on your grape fields
Unless I can make
award winning red wine
to wet your dry lips

Send me no more
job applications.
For my hands will not work
in your sewing factory
Unless I can cross stitch
the patterns of my love
into one handsome garment
which perfectly fits
your naked heart

Tell me no more
about the needs
of your flowery garden.
For I will not toil
uncountable days of tomorrow
tilling its soil
Unless I can grow
a gardener’s dozen
of baby-pink singing roses
to give lovey-dovey song
to your romantic ear

Stop shaking my pockets
and making them jingle.
For I will not spend
any of my coins
in your penny candy store
Unless I can buy
enough of your confection
to candy-coat the world
with the rareness
of your sweetness

Quit throwing water
in my face
and demanding I treat you
to a day of surfing in the sun.
For this I will not do
Unless I can use my heart
as a surfboard
and ride you atop
the rising ripples of happiness
moving throughout my body
whenever I think of you.
